Formally known as Gordo's since 1969, The Red Garter has been at its present location since 1993. It was renamed in 1980. Its address is 3143 East Speedway Blvd. Open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday 11AM to 2PM and Sunday 10AM to 10PM. The Red Garter provides 15 cold beers on tap and a large selection of bottled beers with a full bar. Pricing is very affordable and the pitchers are cheap enough and range from 6 to around 15 bucks. The full bar is long and covers the entire front room. The food is great and has recently been talked about on the radio show "On the Menu Live" and given a good review for the food alone. The bar food is exceptional and prices are very fair. The kitchen is open late and they have daily specials and homemade soups. Finger foods and a great kids menu round out the food offerings.

The bar is known for the 8 pool tables that are located in the back room. Tuesday's are free pool night and just a few years ago this night was started by "The Boys" and that consisted of a few film people friends and myself. They decided to make Tuesday Free Pool Night to spur up business as we were the only consistent regulars on Tuesday's nights. They have Pool Leagues, a juke box, darts, Mega Touch video games, the famous Dragon Punch, poker tournaments, a monthly bike night, and many TV's located around the bar and outside patio to watch your favorite sporting games. Free Wifi is provided.
The Atmosphere

The Red Garter garnishes an excellent local vibe once you step in immediately. The location is within walking distance from the University of Arizona as it is roughly only 1 mile away. Many college kids frequent the locale to relax, have a beer, meet with friends, do homework, and of course watch the Arizona Wildcats. The University is with in walking distance Also there is a fair share of locals that are regulars during all times of the day. Outside the patio is large and you can see the pool tables and smoke while either chilling under misters or warming up around space heaters depending on the season. The atmosphere during game broadcasts are very spirited and people cheer together during the crucial moments.
They accept Visa, AMEX, Discover, and Master Card. The recently remodeled and added Sunday night to the days for free pool. Plenty of parking outside and their are cameras located around the four corners of the establishment to make sure everything is secure and safe. Some of my favorite food items are the Chicken/Steak fingers, The classic Red Garter Burger, onion rings and the basket of specialty fries. They are open late and the waitresses are very welcoming and often funny, doesn't hurt that they are all pretty good looking as well.
