Lai Wah Heen is a dim sum restaurant on the second floor of the Metropolitan Hotel at 108 Chestnut Street in Downtown Toronto.

Many people who have had Dim Sum in Hong Kong considered this Toronto restaurant as good as if not better than what they'd eat and enjoy over there.

Until early 2013, it was owned by the Metropolitan Hotel and served as its eatery.

When the restaurant was closed by the hotel, the workers were laid off. The new owners re-opened the place but contrary to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement which survives any ownership changes in the restaurant, they hired new workers.

Early morning on September 5 2013

Workers who were laid off by Metropolitan Hotel and remain members of UniteHere! Local 75, held a loud information picket in front of the Hotel. The restaurant being inside and upstairs on the second floor, the sidewalk was the closest they could get to picket.
