San Francisco prohibits the sale and breeding of pet rabbits. This is due to the over population problem with rabbits, and the problems they have caused in the parks and with the native wildlife.

You can still adopt one from the City & County of San Francisco Animal Care and Control. It will of course be spayed or neutered before you can adopt it.

You will most likely need to find and exotic animal veterinarian to care for your rabbit, as most veterinarians in the city only work with cats and dogs. Pet stores in the city, however, usually do carry pet rabbit supplies and food even though they can't sell rabbits.
