Two places have wi-fi so far:

"On December 10, 2007 the Philomath City Council voted 5-0 to have Philomath police enter into a year-long contract for wireless internet service with Alyrica, and to give that local company access to city property to set up such a network.

Alyrica wants to provide limited Wi-Fi for free throughout the city, where users could access e-mail accounts, city and local business pages. Locals would need to pay to receive full Internet access.

"I think this is a project that will be well-received by the community," said Randy Kugler, city manager.

Philomath police would benefit by being able to access law-enforcement databases from the field without using dispatch, which would make them more efficient and keep them safer." (Gazette Times, 12/11/2007)
