Living car-free in Conway is challenging. Although there are groups dedicated to making the city friendlier to both bikes (Conway Advocates for Bicycling) and pedestrians (Walking Conway), basic necessities like food generally require trips to relatively hostile environments for peds/bikes. Perhaps the easiest major store is the Wal-Mart on Dave Ward, which is linked by the Tucker Creek walking trail (link to walking trail) to much of the rest of the city.

Among various neighborhoods a person can slowly find short-cuts through often empty parking lots, side streets, and neighborhoods to get to many places.  A person could for instance ride through downtown on the south edge, cross Harkrider and take the (somewhat less bike friendly) road, 6th, the runs alongside the municipal airport a few blocks up to 1st .. That will come right up to Kroger.

Be creative and explore the back roads and help us cultivate a knowledge base of good bike routes around Conway to get us around.  Please post those tips in Bicycle Rides
