Slow Food Chicago is a 501(c)3 educational nonprofit organization operating as a local chapter under the arm of Slow Food USA. Slow Food Chicago has been active since 1998 and was formally founded as a chapter on June 5, 2001. Supporting more initiatives and activities each year, Slow Food Chicago advocates for good, clean and fair food for all. Slow Food Chicago is run by an all-volunteer board of directors seeking to connect eaters to the Chicago region's biodiverse and sustainable producers through organizational partnerships, publications, events and programming as well as increase public awareness around the economic, environmental, political, and cultural impact of our eating through education, garden projects, crop mobs and other events.

Slow Food envisions a world in which all people can eat food that is good for them, good for the people who grow it, and good for the planet.
