Anita Johnson is an Ypsi-Arbor area native operatic soprano, currently teaching and performing in the New York City area. On February 25, 2009, she joined Stevie Wonder in a performance at the White House, where President Obama presented Wonder with the Library of Congress' Gershwin Award for lifetime achievement.

Johnson was born in Ann Arbor and raised in Ypsilanti. She studied voice performance at the University of Southern California before returning to the area for graduate studies in performance and a music education certification at the University of Michigan. She has taught elementary school in New Jersey and preK-12 at the Harlem School of the Arts.

As a coloratura soprano, she has performed with groups ranging from the Ann Arbor Symphony to New York's Metropolitan Opera, as well as stints at Italy's Spoleto and Germany's Nationaltheater Mannheim.
