Ypsilanti's Occidental Hotel

The Occidental Hotel was located at 16-24 N Huron in Ypsilanti during the 1890s and 1900s.

In 1906, Beakes described the Occidental as "the leading hotel of Ypsilanti", and "one of the best establishments of the kind in this part of the state." At that time owned by Horace Shutts, it had 40 rooms, "a first class billiard hall and bowling alleys", and "cuisine and other appointments [that] furnish the best service possible.

The Occidental was "badly damaged" during the cyclone of April 13, 1893.
